Phoenix Covers Dylan

Apparently I am one of the last people to find out about this one, but Pitchfork has a beautiful Phoenix cover of one of my favorite Dylan tracks.
Listen:
The Best Music of 2009
Here are Letter to Jane’s favorite tracks of 2009. This seemed to be the only way to do an “end of the year” list since great music doesn’t necessarily come on an album these days. Quick note, there were other great releases this year but we stuck to the top 30, enjoy.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Hysteric (Acoustic)
The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart – Higher Than The Stars
Peter Bjorn and John – Nothing to Worry About
Chester French – She Loves Everybody
Why? – January Twenty Something
Let’s Wrestle – I’m in Love With Destruction
The Depreciation Guild – Darklooming
Sonic Youth – Sacred Trickster
Cymbals Eat Guitars – Some Trees
Fool’s Gold – Momentary Shelter

Playlist #13
I can’t sleep, too much on my mind. I feel like writing some hipster runoff-esque rant but instead I’ll just play some music, maybe that will calm me down and keep me away from my thoughts so I can get a couple hours of sleep.
The Velvet Underground – There She Goes Again

The Beatles – Ticket to Ride

Jarvis Cocker – You’re in My Eyes

Playlist #9
I used to make mix tapes in middle school for girls as an awkward way to get closer to them and try and ask them out. I haven’t done that in a while so I picked somebody at random from lookbook.nu. I love this pic, but I’m sorry mystery hipster girl, this playlist isn’t really geared toward you, it’s what’s on my iphone as I get ready to do a photo shoot today, still though, you’re a little impressed right? Either way I’m impressed by your style, keep it up.
(ps to Letter of Jane readers – It’s been terrific weather and I’m in a weird mood, live with it)

Charles Hamilton – Barbara Walters

Clipse ft Kanye West – Kinda Like a Big Deal

Playlist #5
This playlist is fairly laid back. It’s going to be a very relaxed weekend for me, just working on some photos and hanging out with some friends. You might notice that I put up two YYY songs. I did that because I felt bad about the recent review I made. Not because I’ve had a change of heart, but because this site isn’t about reviews. Picking a side is pointless to me while applying actual method and critical analysis to something holds great value to me. I’d rather share and discuss than judge.
And a thanks is in order to Confusion at Pigeons and Planes for some of the music.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Hysteric (Acoustic)

Pete Doherty – Lady Don’t Fall Backwards

Now, Now Every Children – In My Chest
